Lady's Story
Some ask, "Why are your prices so high?  Why can't I
just find a Golden at a cheaper rate?"

Let me tell you our story about "Lady".  We, like you,
began our hunt for a Golden Retriever puppy.  Excited
and impatient, we went straight to the Newspaper.
There are reputable breeders in the paper, but you have
to ask the right questions and often wait for a litter.   We
didn't know the questions to ask and blindly accepted
the "health" guarantee that was offered.  When Lady
came to our home, she had bloody diarrhea.  We were
told "that was normal" by the breeder, and told to
switch to another food.  (We now know, had Cocidia
and bloody diarrhea is NOT normal!)  At 6 months old,
Lady's appetite decreased. (Again, that is NOT
normal!)  I passed it off as her slowing down on her
growth.  She then began eating grass and vomiting daily.
Dogs do eat grass and vomit on occassion, so still I
tried not to worry.

One day, as I was petting her, I noticed her ribs sticking
out.  I began changing her food trying to put more
weight on her, but she continued to vomit.  When my
daughters would go near  her, she would growl.
(Definately NOT normal for a Golden!!!)  At 8 months,
I finally took her to the vet.  By then it was too late.
After hundreds of dollars spent on food, medications,
and vet bills, Lady died at 8 months of congenital kidney
failure.  Of course I called the breeder, and he kept up
his end of the "health guarantee." But, I was out
hundreds of dollars trying to keep this poor puppy alive,
and not to mention the emotional loss our family faced.

The second puppy the breeder gave us came with a
severe case of Cocidiosis and a Bladder infection.
When she was an adult, I had her hips evaluated, only
to find out she had hip dysplasia.
Between the 2 puppies, I spent hundreds of dollars
trying to get them healthy.  If I had gone to a reputable,
caring breeder in the first place, I would've saved
money and still had my first sweet Golden with me.

Now that I am more knowledgable about breeders, I
realized, this breeder was 1 step up from a puppy mill.
His dogs never got personalized attention, apart from
feeding.  He had 7 or more breeds of dogs.  He never
asked us any questions about our family or where this
puppy was going or if we planned on breeding her.   He
blindly signed her over to us.   Frankly, he didn't really
care about the puppy at all.  He took our money and
gave us a puppy and some papers.

I've heard story after story of puppies that were bought
out of the paper and ended up with hip dysplasia that
costs $2000 and up to fix.  Or puppies that had serious
health issues that cost thousands of dollars over their
lifetime.

So, now back to our question..."Why are your prices so
high?"  Because we go to great expense to keep our
dogs healthy...getting health clearances, feeding a
Super-Premium food...and add extra nutrients
pregnant/lactating Moms' diets.  We take our dogs to
Obedience classes and dog shows.   We spend hours
raising litters from birth and will go to the extra expense
to make sure every puppy is healthy in every litter.  We
provide lifetime support of you and your family and
realize this puppy is a commitment for both us and you.

While there is never any 100% guarantee...2 healthy
dogs can still produce unhealthy puppies, just like
humans.   We try our best to ensure your puppies are
healthy so that you will have a companion for many
years.  We provide a 2 year health guarantee that states
that if your dog has  hip or elbow dysplasia, or any
other genetic health defect, we will replace your puppy
at no cost to you.  The old saying goes, "You get what
you pay for." Is true of Dogs too!  Don't take a chance
like we did!

If you are a family that desperately wants a Golden Pet
for your family, but can't afford the higher rates that
quality breeders charge, then, may I suggest a Golden
Rescue?  They are usually wonderful companions that
need loving families.

Notice how dirty and thin she is.  Not to mention
her coat was sparse and dull.

I've learned a lot about picking puppies since then!
A very sick, and thin Lady at 7
months...  Notice how she is sitting,
she probably had hip dysplasia too!
